Patrick is a Greensboro native and a proud grad of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
During his time on campus, he directed and reported for the award-winning student newscast, Carolina Week. He spent one summer as an intern at WFMY News 2 and another in Atlanta as an intern on the CNN National Assignment Desk.
Patrick Wright joined the WFMY News 2 team in May 2012 as a community connector. In June 2013, he made the jump from the assignment desk into the field as a multi-media journalist. Before joining the WFMY News 2 team, Patrick was a decorated journalist in his time at UNC. He won the RTNDAC's Student Journalist of the Year Award in 2012, finished first in the Broadcast Education Association's Student News Reporting - Feature Competition and was nominated for a Hearst Award, along with other honors.
Patrick is excited to come back home to report. His goal is to give back to his family, teachers, church members and coaches who helped him get to where he is today. He's glad to call Greensboro home and even more excited to work for the station he grew up watching.
In his spare time, he loves to watch sports - mainly basketball and football. He's also a die-hard Tar Heel who supports everything Carolina blue.
If you have a story idea or just want to say hello, feel free to email him, send him a tweet, or stop Patrick on the street!
