- Spokesperson for WSFCS Brent Campbell says the deciding factor for the 2-hour delay was primarily because of the buses. He says when temperatures drop below 20 degrees, it can cause issues with starting up the buses. The buses have been sitting idly for two weeks because of winter break, so the school system is preparing for any possible issues. He also said the buses are on a tiered system, and pick up multiple classes of students. So, if one bus breaks down, it causes more delays in the bus route system. He says the school system also wants to avoid students waiting too long in the cold, in case their bus has problems. Campbell also said maintenance crews were working at schools on Tuesday, making sure all heating equipment was ready to go for when students come back to class.
