Couple Find Naked Man on Heroin, Meth on Roof Of Their House
PHOENIX - A Phoenix couple woke up to a scary sight in the middle of the night Sunday. They found a stranger on their roof completely naked.
Norma Quintero and her husband jumped out of bed when they heard loud footsteps on the roof of their home near 91st Avenue and McDowell Road. They looked out their bathroom window onto their roof and found a strange man.
"He was trying to go in through my bathroom window," said Quintero.
Quintero called the police and ran outside. Then, she started recording the mystery man on her roof. That's when she realized he was completely naked.
"He was completely naked. No clothes on. At all," Quintero said.
Police responded within minutes. It took about 20 minutes to get the man down but when they did, they arrested him. He was later identified as 30-year-old Rudy James Ortega. According to court documents, Ortega admitted to taking heroin and meth earlier that night.
"That's the first thing I thought: He's on drugs," Quintero recalled.
Ortega now faces charges of first-degree criminal trespassing and indecent exposure. He claims he does not remember why he was naked, but it is something Quintero will never forget.
"Now when I leave my house at 5:30 a.m. because I'm alone I'm pretty scared to go out there," said Quintero.
Ortega is now required to wear an ankle bracelet and undergo drug and alcohol testing. He's due back in court later this month.
