ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- The Christmas holiday is upon, the Biltmore House. On Wednesday, thousands of people gathered to watch a horse-drawn carriage carrying a 35-foot Fraser fir tree to the Biltmore.

The Christmas tree comes from Andrews Nursery in Avery County, N.C. It's a tradition started by George Vanderbilt on Christmas Eve in 1895.

The tree will be decorated with 500 ornaments and wrapped packages tucked under the tree. The 35-foot tree is a star attraction at the Biltmore each year.
