"Be the change that you wish to see in the world"--Mahatma Gandhi

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- All it takes is one person to make a difference in your community.

Saturday, October 28 marks this year’s ‘Make A Difference Day.’ The day is the largest single-day of volunteering in the country. Staff at WFMY News 2, Arby's and Walker's Express spent Friday packing nonperishable food for Backpack Beginnings. The agency provides meals in backpacks for children to take home over the weekend.

WFMY News 2 is encouraging you to do something this Saturday, October 28 that makes a difference in your community and grab others to come along with you and your family. Make it contagious.

4 easy ways you can make a difference no matter where you live:

VOLUNTEER | Schools and other nonprofits are always looking for extra help that can't afford to pay for.

ADOPT-A-ROAD | Is there a street in your neighborhood or one you have to travel near everyday and it could use some TLC? Why not organize your neighbors or church members and adopt that road and clean it up.

SERVE at a FOOD BANK | Area food banks are always looking for volunteers to help with pantry stocking and to cook and serve meals in the kitchen, dinning areas.
