1. APPLE PIE! APPLE PIE! APPLE PIE!
There’s nothing like apple pie or candy apples! Check out the 17th annual Apple Festival taking place this weekend in Winston-Salem. The festival includes local apples, honey, ice cream, craft vendors, and animals! That includes pig racing, a petting zoo, and wildlife rehabilitation. The festival is Saturday, September 16 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. It’s at the Historic Bethabara Park located at 2147 Bethabara Road in Winston-Salem. Admission is free!

2. HARVEST FUN!
It’s a good-ole Harvest Festival full of family fun. The 41st Yadkin Valley Harvest Festival takes place this weekend. The festival includes amusement rides, craft vendors, live music, food and fun for all. It’s Saturday, September 16 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. in downtown Yadkinville.

3. DID SOMEONE SAY CHILI?
It’s time to sample it all and find out once and for all who has the best Chili! The 7TH Annual Big Galute Chili Cook-Off takes place this weekend. It includes a Chili competition, local vendors, children’s play area, classic car cruise-in, live music and lots of fun. It’s Saturday, September 16 from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Creekside Park located at 214 Park Drive in Archdale. Admission is $5

4. WATCH IT SOAR!
Model airplanes are just fun! This weekend check out the Mini-Airshow in Winston-Salem. More than 50-radio-controlled model airplanes will take part in the Mini-Airshow. Admission and parking are free. If you bring five cans of food you’ll receive your choice of a free lunch or a $5 raffle ticket. The Mini-Airshow is this Saturday, September 16 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Hobby Park located at 2301 West Clemmonsville Road in Winston-Salem.
5. COME EXPLORE!
Here’s your chance to take a hay ride and also explore historic homes! Oak Ridge is holding its first Explore Historic Oak Ridge event. You’ll be able to explore a number of historic homes. There’s also hay rides, music, food, and more fun. The town will close Oak Ridge Road between NC 68 and Oak Ridge United Methodist Church for the event. It’s Saturday, September 16 from 12:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance for adults, $12 on the day of the event; $5 for kids 12 and under in advance, and $6 on the day of the event. Kids under the age of 5 get in free.

BONUS: Comicon is coming to Greensboro!
This weekend check out everything Comicon has to offer in downtown Greensboro. The event includes a weekend full of comics, cosplay, toys, gaming and more! There are fan-inspired panels, lots of interactive mini-events, and a contest. It takes place September 16 & 17 at the Elm Street Center located at 203 South Elm Street in Greensboro.
