WENTWORTH, N.C. -- The Rockingham County Sheriff's Office is working to keep its elderly neighbors cool during the hot summer months.

The 'Fans For The Elderly' donation drive just kicked off. The sheriff's office is collecting fans to give away to elderly community members in need.

Eden Professional Firefighters Association has already donated 110 fans for the cause.

Last year, the sheriff's office says it received a record 433 fans to give to the elderly. However, the need is still bigger than the number of fans donated.

The donation drive runs through August 15. Donations can be made anytime at the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office at 170 NC 65 Reidsville, NC or at the American Red Cross at 3692 NC 14 Reidsville, NC from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.
