No, monkey business about it! Meet Dembe, the North Carolina Zoo’s newest gorilla!

You can see Dembe, the 5-year-old gorilla at the Zoo’s Gorilla Exhibit. Dembe, who’s a member of the endangered Western Lowland Gorilla species comes from the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Willie Campbell with the NC Zoo traveled to Colorado to help bring Dembe to his new home.

“It is always so exciting to welcome a new animal to our natural habitat park.”

Dembe will spend 30-days in the quarantine area with Rosie, another gorilla who’s part of the Zoo’s Gorilla Troop to allow them bond before he’s introduced to the larger troop.
