Video of flooding across North Carolina inspired Michelle Kirkpatrick.

"I'm sad because they didn't choose that, it chose them," she said.

Now she and a group of women in Burlington are collecting supplies for people they don't even know in Lumberton.

"I don't even know where it is."

But that didn't stop her from putting everything on hold to sit outside 2288 North Church Street and wait for people to come. They did.

"Things like this happen I feel like we need to come together as one and help people out… this could have been anybody… this could have been Burlington," Irvins Torain said as he dropped off school supplies.

"God put this in our hearts to go get this stuff and bring it back here," Brooke Maness said. She was bringing by personal hygiene items for flood victims.

Kirkpatrick will be there all weekend making sure these boxes are stuffed full. Not because she has to, but because she wants to. It's a calling - and she had to do something to help.

"This is important. Giving back is important," she said. I was raised the more God gives you the more you give back."

If you want to donate they'll be collecting until 9:00 PM Friday, from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM Saturday and from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM Sunday.
