Man wanted after fight leads to stabbing in Winston-Salem

Police say it started with a fight in the middle of Stockton Street. It ended with someone getting stabbed, fighting for his life in a hospital.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Winston-Salem police are searching for a suspect after a man was stabbed in Winston-Salem Wednesday. 

According to police, the stabbing happened in the 2900 block of Stockton Street around 4:30 pm.  

Police say the victim, Direz Shannon, 31, got into a fight with the suspect, Rashad Akeem Sims, in the middle of the street before the stabbing. 

First responders found Shannon with injuries to his chest and back and he was taken to the hospital where he is in serious condition. 

Police say Sims drove off before they arrived and they do not know where he is at this time. 

An arrest warrant for Assault with a Deadly Weapon has been issued for Sims. 

The Winston-Salem Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in this case.
