Driver Grazed By Bullet in Rockingham Co. Road Rage Shooting

Deputies say a man driving a white Honda Civic with a stuffed animal in the back windshield shot at a driver who passed him on US 158 in Reidsville.

REIDSVILLE, N.C. -- Rockingham County Sheriff's Office says a driver was grazed by a bullet after a rage rage incident turned into shots being fired at his truck.

Deputies say the shooting happened Tuesday around 4:30 p.m. on US 158 West near Swallow Road in Reidsville.

According to a release, Mr. Chapmon told deputies he was driving his truck along US 158 and passed a man driving a white two-door Honda Civic with a stuffed animal in the back glass.

Mr. Chapmon said after passing the Civic and returning to his lane of travel, the Civic driver shot at him, striking his back tire and the back windshield of his truck. The bullet that went through the back windshield grazed the top of his head before it shot through the front windshield.

Deputies say Mr. Chapmon sped away before stopping near Swallow Road where someone stopped to check on him and reported the shooting.

The man in the white Honda Civic turned onto an unknown road before Mr. Chapmon stopped his truck.
