EDEN, NC -- The driver and passenger involved in a deadly crash in Eden Thursday night following a police chase have been identified.

Highway Patrol says the passenger, Katarria Renay Moyer, died at the scene. The driver, Ricky Carlton Martin, has multiple broken bones and is in critical condition at a hospital.

On Friday, investigators with the NC Highway Patrol spent the day recreating the crash scene on Highway 14 in Eden.

A trail of tire tracks and broken car parts mark the spot where the chase came to a deadly conclusion.

Police say an officer saw a car going east on Meadow Road, driving erratically, which caused the officer to pursue that car.

The car tried to get away, but lost control around the intersection of Cox Street and Highway 14, just passed Aiken Road. The car overturned down an embankment.

Police say the driver, Martin, will be charged but haven't said what charges he's facing.

The police officer who was in pursuit is not facing any disciplinary action at this time.
