HIGH POINT, N.C. – High Point Police say a man has been charged with first degree murder after allegedly killing the mother of his children.

Officers were called to an apartment on Taylor Avenue Saturday morning where they found the body of 27-year-old Charlene Sade Alvarez.

Investigators say Alvarez "suffered fatal injuries from a violent encounter."

Police charged 28-year-old Sean Gibson the next morning in Alvarez's death. Investigators say Mr. Gibson and Ms. Alvarez lived together and had children in common.

Gibson is being held at the Guilford County Jail without bond.

Police aren't looking for other suspects.

This is the 5th homicide in High Point so far this year.
