A video making the rounds online Tuesday shows a man chasing after a 12-year-old boy. He catches the kid and throws him to the ground.

The man, Lee Brandt, 46, has been summoned to face a charge for third-degree-assault. The boy was released pending charges for throwing objects at vehicles.

The boy, who 9NEWS is not naming because of his age, claims he did not throw anything at the passing car. He and several friends were walking home from school near Powers Ave. and Versailles Pkwy.

His father, Eric Pappas says his son admitted to throwing around items of clothing between his friends but claims he did not throw a glove at the car.

“Well, I'll tell you what, the entire situation was preventable. There's no reason to be horse playing on the street near cars. Certainly, throwing projectiles,” Pappas said.

Despite that, he’s angry with the driver.

“I was sick to my stomach in all honesty. I could feel a physical sickness in my stomach and I just wanted to get there as soon as I could.”

9NEWS made several attempts to reach Brandt for comment on Tuesday but he did not respond.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office’s report hasn’t been released as of Tuesday evening. A spokesperson for the department confirmed there was no damage to the car involved.

They say they're treating Brandt as a suspect and a victim. The same goes for the boy.
