Mt. Airy, N.C. -- Surry County Deputies are investigating a domestic violence case after a mother and her 17-year-old son were both shot.

The shooting happened at a home on Long Street around 1 a.m. Thursday.

According to the sheriff's report, a woman called 911 and said a man with a handgun shot her and her son.

When deputies arrived, they took Chad Delano Rose into custody.

Detectives say Rose is the woman's boyfriend.

The sheriff's office says the woman and son were taken to the hospital and their injuries are serious.

He is charged with 2 counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill, 1 count felony possession of a stolen vehicle, and 1 count of felony assault on medical personnel.
