Suspects in Eden prostitution case

EDEN, N.C. – A judge handed down a new sentence for a woman who pleaded guilty to selling her underage daughters for sex. One of the admitted johns was also re-sentenced, after both of their previous sentences were vacated due to the former district attorney’s handling of the cases.

WFMY News 2 is not naming the woman convicted in an effort to protect the identity of her girls.

Back in 2016, the mother pleaded guilty to dozens of charges related to the prostitution ring involving her daughters. At the time, the judge said this was the most disturbing case he's heard in all of his years on the bench and sentenced her to 20 years in prison.

This week, the mother was re-sentenced to 22 years minus the time she has already served since May 31, 2016 – adding two years to her jail time.

Thomas Obie Woodall – one of the men who admitted to paying for sex with the girls – also had his previous sentence was vacated. He was re-sentenced this week to between seven years, 10 months and 14 years, five months.

The two were re-sentenced after fallout from the previous Rockingham County District Attorney, Craig Blitzer. Officials said it was discovered he had defendants plead guilty to crimes they did not commit and did not turn over evidence to the defense, according to previous reporting. Blitzer also admitted to a “wife job-swap” scheme, in which he and another prosecutor hired each other’s wives and allowed them to collect substantial salaries for little work.

Two other men involved in the prostitution ring, Donnie Ray Carter and Everett Ferris Jr., were also re-sentenced this summer. Both took lesser plea deals from current Rockingham County District Attorney, Jason Ramey.

Another man accused in the case, Mickey Snow, will not serve jail time. In July, he accepted a plea deal in which he got 31 days of credit for time served in jail and the rest of his jail time was suspended. He was placed on supervised probation for 36 months.

Eden Police started investigating this case in September 2015 when one of the daughters went to police and told them their mother was making them have sex with old men.

The mom told her girls they needed to help get money for their sick father's medical bills.

In the woman's confession to police, she admitted she was addicted to crack cocaine and used some of the money her daughters earned to buy the drug.
