BURLINGTON, N.C. -- Alamance County Sheriff's Deputies recovered three guns from a getaway car following a chase in Burlington on Wednesday. One of the guns was stolen years ago from a police officer in another North Carolina county, according to Public Information Officer Randy Jones.

Deputies arrested Timothy Lynn Haithcox and John Christopher Wrenn after the chase ended in a crash with a police car and another vehicle.

Jones said the two men were wanted for multiple crimes, including an armed robbery that happened at a Circle K on the same day - but a separate investigation on Haithcox and Wrenn is was led to the arrest.

Jones said undercover deputies were investigating Haithcox and Wrenn for selling guns. The undercover deputies were arranging to meet the men to 'buy guns.'

Before the meeting even happened, Jones says the deputies found out Haithcox and Wrenn were wanted for multiple crimes, and they attempted to make an arrest.

That's when the chase began - it started in the area of Mebane Street and North Beaumont Avenue in Burlington and lasted for about a minute, Jones said.

According to a sheriff's office release, the driver crashed with a police vehicle and another car.

Haithcox and Wrenn got out of the car and started to run, but were caught.

A third man who was driving them was arrested and charged with felony speeding to elude, resist, delay and obstruct, and multiple traffic violations.

Haithcox and Wrenn are in Alamance County jail. Haithcox's bond totals $300,000. Wrenn's bond totals half-a-million dollars.
