GREENSBORO, N.C. (WFMY) -- Multiple bomb threats have been reported in cities across the country Thursday, including Greensboro, Boone and Charlotte.

In Boone, police responded to several claims as well including Blue Ridge Medical Offices, Ross Automotive, and Executive Arts Building on Furman Road. All the threats were received by email.

Police said at this time the threats do not appear to be credible.

Businesses have been targeted by receiving an email that claims there is a bomb or explosive device on the property and that it will detonate by the end of the business day. It then requests money sent as bitcon in order to prevent the bomb from going off.

Police said the email is believed to be a scam to get money or disrupt business. Investigators said do not send money and do not reply to the email.

Investigators want to remind you to remain vigilant and report any suspicious persons or devices.
