GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. – A man charged with killing a woman in 2014 has pleaded guilty to the crime and was sentenced this week.
Anthony Clay Campbell was charged with the murder of Joyce Price Eaton. Her body was found in McLeansville on June 11, 2014.
Campbell pleaded guilty to the murder and sentenced to Life without Parole.
In 2014 after his arrest Campbell said “love, greed and deceit,” was his motive for murdering Eaton, Sheriff BJ Barnes confirmed at a news conference that year.
Eaton and Campbell shared a relationship and started having money issues in their relationship.
Officers were able to identify him as a suspect based on evidence showing he was in the area near Eaton's job the night she disappeared, He was also in McLeansville where the body was found and in Hillsborough where the victim's car was dumped.
Eaton's body was found by landscapers with a shot wound and severe cuts to her neck.
