There's a good chance you got a notice from Takata in the mail recently. It’s about the company filing for bankruptcy.
The company filed in June, but the notice tells you either your current or former car likely has a defective air bag.
If you want to file a proof of claim against the company, you need to do so by December 27th. If you don't file a claim by then, you won't be able to do so.
You must file a claim even if you're included in a class action lawsuit. These claims can include personal injury or money lost because of the defective air bag, among other reasons.
This notice also asks you to contact your nearest dealership for a free repair. As of June, 10 million more air bags still needed to be replaced.
We reached out to a few dealerships in the Triad. Crown Chrysler in Greensboro and Flow Honda in Winston-Salem both have them in stock.
