A former Greensboro insurance agent was arrested for 14 charges related to identity theft, insurance fraud and embezzlement.
The N.C. Department of Insurance reports that Eddie Butler was arrested Aug. 4 in High Point and charged with 11 counts of identity theft and one count of embezzlement by an insurance agent in Forsyth County. Butler, 29, was also charged with one count of insurance fraud and one count of attempting to obtain property by false pretense in Guilford County.
Investigators say Butler forged 11 fraudulent auto insurance policies to collect a $1,200 commission while in Forsyth County. Butler also claimed that larceny occurred at his Guilford County home and provided false documents to Allstate Insurance.
Butler was placed under a $115,000 bond.
