GREENSBORO, NC -- What happens when you combine live music, good food and a community cause? You get Park n Praise 2017!
Elder Cedric Parker with East Market Street Seventh-Day Adventist Church and Greensboro Police officer Calvin Stevens joined Lauren Melvin on the Good Morning Show to talk about the event!
The purpose of Park N Praise is to address the community issue of childhood hunger. A survey conducted by Gallup for the Food Research and Action Center in 2014 ranked Greensboro/High Point #1 nationally for food hardship. While the goal is to bring awareness to food insecurity, they're also helping families by meeting another need-- providing diapers! They will be distributing diapers, donated by the NC Diaper Bank, on a first come, first serve bases.
GPD is helping with some crucial aspects: food and transportation! Officers will be cooking the hamburgers and hotdogs on their grill-- with the goal of talking with community members who are present and opening lines of communication with residents. The city is providing transportation for the residents of Ray Warren and Willow Oaks.
If you want to attend, the Park N Praise event is Saturday, May 6 at 2:30pm at Barber Park in Greensboro. The address is 1500 Dans Road.
