MONDAY, MARCH 30

10:03 a.m. - North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis holds phone conference providing updates on the coronavirus.

9:30 a.m. - Randolph County Public Health received notification that there are now 17 cases of novel coronavirus in the county. That make 8 more cases since Friday

SUNDAY, MARCH 29

4:38 p.m. - Members of the White House Coronavirus Task Force scheduled to hold a briefing at 5 p.m.

4:19 p.m. - Governor Roy Cooper announced the first payments for unemployment claims related to coronavirus will start this week.

3:34 p.m. - The Rowan County Public Health Department has confirmed two additional COVID-19 positive cases in Rowan County.  This brings the positive case count to 16. 

2:45 p.m. - Mecklenburg County Public Health announced the first death in Mecklenburg County due to the COVID-19.

The individual was 60-years-old and passed away Sunday morning.

 “Our sympathy and thoughts go out to this individual’s family,” said Gibbie Harris, Public Health Director. “This first death of a Mecklenburg County resident due to COVID-19 emphasizes the importance to stay at home and away from others to stop the spread of this virus.”

11:10 a.m. - NCDHHS now reports 1,040 cases of COVID-19 in NC. 

11:00 a.m. - Forsyth County says no new cases have been reported since yesterday’s daily briefing was issued. The County’s total case count remains at thirty-three.
