We couldn’t do it without the help of volunteers. Literally, dozens of volunteers including Boy Scouts and the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity help to make it all happen.

On the day of the event lots of WFMY News 2 employees head to the location to help set up for the event. That includes making sure there are paths to the shred trucks and exits. It also includes setting up lots of signs.
Then workers along with volunteers split off into workstations at each truck. The volunteers help unload vehicles one by one. They empty up to 3 bags or boxes into a trash can. Then the trash is emptied into the shred truck thanks to PROSHED Security workers.
