Security Lines Are Getting Longer In Some Places, Try These Tricks

You can save some time by following these guidelines at the airport

GREENSBORO, N.C. — We're 31 days into a partial government shutdown. Federal workers aren't at work. And if they are, they're not getting paid, which means some aren't coming to work. That's what's happening with TSA workers in some locations.

Here is what you can do. TSA has an app called "MyTSAapp" and travelers report their security checkpoint times in real time.

The app also has historical data on how busy an airport usually is on the date and time you're traveling. You can also use apps like "Flightspeak" and "MiFlight" to see wait times.

You also don't have to go the security line closest to your gates. Most major airports have multiple checkpoints in a terminal. If you have enough time, try another with a shorter line. It might be worth the long walk.
