GREENSBORO, N.C. – Severe weather is rolling into the Triad, so 2 Wants To Know is separating fact from fiction.

FICTION - If a storm brings down your neighbor’s tree and it lands on your property, it’s always on your neighbor’s insurance.

FACT – No matter who’s tree it is, it’s all on your insurance. The only way to avoid your insurance from paying it, is to alert your neighbor and insurance company before the storm. The notice must be in writing and state that the tree is in danger of falling.

FACT AND FICTION - It’s not safe to talk on the phone if there’s lightning in the area. If you’re using a cord phone, the lighting can travel through the wire. However, if you are using a cordless phone or a cell phone, there’s no direct path.
