HIGH POINT, N.C. — A man died Friday afternoon following a crash in High Point involving hay bales.
High Point police said Donald Lee Sapp, 72, of Winston-Salem was entering I-74 from U.S. 311 when hay bales began to fall from his pickup truck. Police said Sapp made an abrupt turn across the westbound lanes of I-74 and was hit by a box truck.
He was taken to Baptist Medical Center but died from his injuries.
Police said no one else was injured in the crash and no charges are expected.
