Winston-Salem, N.C. -- When you have a baby in the hospital, holidays aren't usually top of mind.

This Halloween, one woman has a unique plan to help families with babies in the NICU get into the Halloween spirit.

Deneen Bryan and volunteers with Capturing Hopes Photography, are taking free photos of premature babies at Forsyth Medical Center and Brenner Children's Hospital.

Bryan knows firsthand, how helpful pictures can be for families with sick children.

"My daughter, Christina died 19 years ago after a liver transplant," She explained. "She was five months and 22 days old when we lost her."

Bryan said she still treasures the pictures a photographer took of Christina in the hospital. Those photos inspired her to take up photography.

"And it only made sense to pay it forward and help other families struggling in the hospital," Bryan said.

Bryan said the photo shoot is a welcomed distraction from the sadness parents are coping with everyday at the hospital.

"For some parents these could be the last photos they have of their child," Bryan said. "So we want to capture the beauty of the baby."

The Ronald McDonald House donated costumes for the babies to wear in the photographs. They used doll and dog costumes because premature babies are so small.
