GREENSBORO, NC -- Online shopping seems easy. You pick out what you like, put in a payment method and wait for it to be delivered right to your door.

But this Halloween some people are still waiting by the door and they're hoping for a treat instead of a trick.

Several people in the Triad say they ordered Halloween costumes through Amazon Prime. According to their receipt, those costumes were supposed to be delivered before Halloween but the costumes didn't show up.

"It still hasn’t come in and it was a little bit of a hassle ordering it online," Ian Melnik said.

Melnik ordered a Karate Kid costume last week. Amazon Prime offers two-day shipping and said the costume was supposed to arrive on the holiday.

A Triad mom posted on the WFMY News 2 Facebook page that she ordered a costume for her daughter five different times. She thought it would be delivered by Halloween but she received a shipping notification that said that it would arrive in early November.

When costumes aren't delivered people head to Halloween stores like Halloween and More in Friendly Center.

"We’ve had people come in and say, ‘Oh I bought this online and it didn’t get here in time or I’m going to a party tonight and I didn’t get what I need so I’m going to get it here instead,'" Addison Vaughan, a store employee said.

Amazon Prime is a yearly subscription that offers fast shipping on certain items. Amazon's website said that if your prime package isn't delivered on time you could be eligible for an additional month of the service at no cost. There are certain restrictions. For example, if the delivery service tries to deliver your item and can't, Amazon considers that an on time delivery.
