ALAMANCE COUNTY, NC -- Gunshots heard Friday at Alamance Community College sounded real but were really only part of a training exercise for first responders.
Police, fire, and EMS workers staged an active shooter drill on campus.
The scenario involved two gunmen firing shots inside the school.
They made it seem as real as possible, right down to people running from the building and victims pretending to be hurt.
Crews also practiced evacuations and lock down procedures.
The purpose of the simulation was to test how well the college functions and communicates while working with Burlington emergency responders.
