GREENSBORO - The final fish game operation in Greensboro shut down Tuesday.
More than 40 businesses got a 30-day warning from Greensboro police in June. 'Skillville' on Randleman Road was the remaining business still open entering this week. Police executed a search warrant Tuesday morning to remove machines and tables.
Detectives say, however, they expect some other type of gambling game, like sweepstakes or fish table games, will pop up eventually, because there's a lot of money in this type of business. As for the tables they didn't seize today, GPD believes they've been sold or given back to the original distributors out of state. So, likely - the games will be running, just not here in the Triad.
As for operations they do not know about, investigators admit these are difficult to track. They only really know where these businesses are when someone calls them in to complain or reports a crime at one of them.
The Fish Game centers are classified as illegal gambling.
