GREENSBORO, NC -- All this month, the Good Morning Show is celebrating Triad teachers!

While we know all teachers make some sort of impact, some make a big impact, and get rewarded for it! Sayrd Price is the 2016-2017 Teacher of the Year for Stokes County Schools. He's the Science department chair at Stokes Early College High School and joined Tracey McCain on the Good Morning Show to talk about why he loves teaching!

Price earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Ecology and Environmental Sciences; Minor in Chemistry from Appalachian State University in August 2005. He went on to complete teacher certification in Middle Grades Science & Social Studies; Secondary Biology from UNC Greensboro in May 2009. He has taught for 4 years at Stokes Early College High School. Currently he is teaching Honor Biology and Earth/Environmental Science.

He is a member of North Carolina Science Teachers Association and the National Science Teachers Association.

He didn't take a traditional route to the classroom. Price worked in various field jobs prior to teaching; Biological Field Tech - Blue Ridge Parkway, Restoration Ecology Technician – Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Preserve, Naturalist Intern - North American Land Trust, and Educational Interpreter – NC Fort Fisher Aquarium.

When he's not in the classroom, he's also an Ironman triathlete! But he says his love for staying busy and moving translates to his classroom philosophy -- where he encourages his students to get outside, get hands on, and explore the world around them!
