KERNERSVILLE, N.C. -- You can celebrate Triad veterans this weekend and enjoy some family fun at the same time!

Saturday, May 20 is Veterans Appreciation Day. American Heroes for North Carolina, with Heal Our Heroes, is honoring veterans with a free day of fun and activities for everyone in the community.

The event is at Triad Park in Kernersville from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 20.

There will be three different musical groups rotating on the main stage at the lawn amphitheater, including the 82nd Airborne All American Band, Letters from Home, and Silk Groove.

Make sure you bring your blankets or lawn chairs, so you can stay all day!

There will also be lots of fun activities for kids, including Mad Science, arts and crafts, Inflatable bounce houses, a fun run and a scavenger hunt.

Several Food Trucks will provide a variety of meals, treats, and shaved ice.

Military vehicles will be displayed, along with classic cars and other emergency equipment. In addition, many veterans organizations and veteran service groups will be there to exhibit their assistance for veterans, including some commercial vendors who offer discounts and products specifically for veterans.

At 1:00 p.m., there will be an Armed Forces Day celebration in front of the memorial at Triad Park. The celebration will include music, remembrance, and the commissioning of a brand new 2nd Lieutenant into the United States Marine Corps.
