GREENSBORO, N.C. -- It's Fitness Friday! And if you've tried to get into shape, you know it's just as much mental as it is physical. That's why one Triad woman started a gym called "Esteem, A Total Transformation," so she can coach your body and your mind. Lauren Melvin tried out her Total Body Boot Camp class.
"I call it a one-stop-shop for health and wellness," said owner, Donna Nealy.
Nealy works with individuals, families, couples and children.
Nealy is a holistic health and wellness consultant, as well as the owner of Esteem, A Total Transformation.
She said sometimes, people come in to lose weight, but actually they're in need of other things.
"That they've been dealing with for years and kind of cover with a band-aid. They could be dealing with depression, stress, chronic illnesses," she said.
"So what we do, we go deep in and find out what the problem is, build their self-esteem, help them to understand that they are worth something."
According to Nealy, her workouts are never the same.
"You could come in one day and you're boxing. We do plyo. We do resistance, floor work, we're outside running," she said. "It's customized per person to what your needs are."
Nealy said she doesn't want her clients to get tired of their workouts or get frustrated because that comes along with lifestyle changes anyway.
She often works with a lot of dumbbells, hand weights and bars and avoids machines. She prefers that her clients use their own body weigh to work.
Nealy started her workouts at her church before turning her lifestyle into a business. She holds classes and does personal training. And now, she has studios in both Winston-Salem and Greensboro, so it's convenient for her clients.
"You can find the time to do this, if you are important to you and learning that you should be on the top of your list as #1," said Nealy. "When you leave esteem, you go out with your head up, your head held high, knowing that you're somebody."
If you want to check out Esteem, A Total Transformation, you can find them at 304 B Pomona Drive in Greensboro and 100 Tall Pines Court in Winston-Salem.
