RAMSEUR, NC -- It's officially fall and nothing screams fall fun more than a stroll through an apple orchard or pumpkin patch. Luckily the Triad is home to a number of pickin' places, including Millstone Creek Orchards in Ramseur.

One of the most popular orchards in the area, Millstone Creek offers produce of all types and a festival almost every weekend in the fall.

In September it's Apple Fest. A time for picking apples, trying apple baked goods, hayrides and storytime with Johnny Appleseed. They also offer "U-Pick" apples. The weekend of September 30th is your last chance to pick apples fresh off of the trees. Right now Millstone Creek has Arkansas Black or "Snow White's Apple." The apple appears rotten on the tree but shines up to a crisp fruit perfect for a snack or baking.

Once October turns around the orchard celebrates Oktoberfest. It's offered every weekend through the month with pumpkin patch exploring, hayrides, pumpkin chunkin' and, of course, fall flavored baked goods.

Admission to those festivals is $8 a person but kids under two get in free. To learn more check out the orchard's website and Facebook page.
