GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Some of the top basketball recruits in the state will be in one place for one important cause this weekend.

Seventeen-year-old Josh Level died playing the sport he loved. His heart stopped but doctors say if there had been an A-E-D in the gym, Josh might be alive today. Weeks later, family and friends started the Josh Level Classic to make sure every gym in the state has Automated External Defibrillators.

Level, a promising young basketball player, died from Myocarditis; which is an infection of the heart. The New Garden Friends School star collapsed during a basketball game in 2013. He died at the hospital shortly afterwards.

"Josh loved playing the game. He gave it his all and never went half on anything. He always gave it his best," said Sam Hunt, who played basketball with Josh growing up. "He loved his family, he loved to smile. He touched people's lives every day. "

The showcase features some of the best high school basketball players, college recruits and college stars in the nation. Often called the Greatest Pick-up Game on Earth, 26 of the best players will play their hearts out in Josh's memory. There's a slam dunk contest and plenty of moment for the players to show off their skills. During half time, they'll honor Josh and present his family with a #15 jersey, Josh's basketball number.

The Josh Level Classic honors his legacy on the court and in the community. Proceeds will be set aside for the Josh Level Foundation and support anti-bullying in schools and towards helping schools purchase AEDs.
