GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Race for your health, race for your community and if you need one more reason to lace up your sneaks, you can race for the future.

That's the reason behind the Hayes-Taylor YMCA's annual 5K Walk and Run this weekend.

The Hayes-Taylor YMCA Race For The Future supports Youth Development and helps fund community programs for children.

Susan Gerke, Wellness Director for the Hayes-Taylor YMCA says anyone can take part in the race, no matter what your age or fitness level.

"It's for everybody. You can run if you're excited about it or you can walk if that's more your speed," said Gerke. "We have all kinds of people involved. The age categories go from 10 and under to 70 plus and we have all of those represented."

The Hayes-Taylor Race for the Future takes place Saturday, October 22, 2016. It's at Barber Park in Greensboro starting at 9 a.m. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and costs $30. For more information, call Susan Gerke at (336) 272-2131 or email
