GREENSBORO, N.C. -- You could see hundreds of cyclists on the road Wednesday, May 17, 2017.
The group, Bicycling in Greensboro is holding its annual Ride of Silence event in honor of those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roadways.
Event organizer Dusten Windbarger says the slow-paced ride is suitable for all ability levels and will also include safety demonstrations. Riders will be escorted by Greensboro Police, to stop traffic at intersections and assist with safety measures.
You can register for free between 6 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Wednesday evening. You do need to sign a liability waiver and wear a helmet. The ride departs at 7 p.m. sharp and returns back to the start location start at 8 p.m.
Bike Month in Greensboro features an event Saturday as well.
The Bikes and Brews Pub Roll takes place Saturday, May 13, 2017 with special stops along the ride. It starts at 2 p.m. at 298 Spring Garden Street in Greensboro and then rolls right into HopFest in the Boro from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
You can enjoy more than just beer. HopFest brings together craft beer, food trucks, local vendors, artisans, a pop-up flea market and musicians.
The group is currently looking for volunteers. If you can help out, you'll receive free admission to HopFest and if you arrive on your bicycle, you'll also receive a free drink token to use inside.
HopFest is will be held at Tracks Bazaar at 302 West Gate City Blvd. in Greensboro.
