GREENSBORO, N.C. -- No child should ever go hungry, so this morning we're giving you an easy way to help feed kids this summer.
When you buy a Happy Meal starting Monday, June 5, 2017 and every following Monday in June, Triad McDonald's restaurants will donate a Happy Meal to a child in need.
It's part of the Buy One, Share One Happy Meal campaign and partnership with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina. This is the third year the organizations have teamed up to provide nutritious summer meals for local children.
Last year, the effort brought 30,833 Happy Meals to children across the Triad. Childhood hunger touches every corner of the community. Right now, 1 in 4 children live in households that struggle to provide the nutrition they need. And when school lets out, many children are at an increased risk of going hungry.
The Triad's 91 locally-owned and operated McDonald's restaurants need your help making sure kids don't go hungry this summer.
The Buy One Share One Happy Meal campaign will be distributed to children attending summer meals sites sponsored by Second Harvest and to other children in need.
