GREENSBORO, N.C. -- You can take a step towards better health and a brighter future this weekend.
You can support the Hayes-Taylor YMCA and its youth programming just by walking, running or even taking a stroll this Saturday, September 30, 2017.
The Walk for our Future 5K takes you along a challenging path in Barber Park in Greensboro. The best part is that it supports youth programs at the YMCA.
"We have so many wonderful programs at the YMCA, helping our community and bringing people together and all working together," said Hayes-Taylor staff member Susan Gerke.
The course may be challenging, but Gerke says the walk is for people of all abilities.
"You can run, you can walk, you can push a stroller, you can do anything you want them to do. We're just glad to have you."
For staff member and walk participant Angie Brown, the walk also instills a feeling of accomplishment.
"There's nothing like getting out and feeling a sense of accomplishment, so when I come across that finish line, it's not 10 miles, but its 5 miles and it feels like 10 to me," said Brown.
The Hayes-Taylor YMCA 5K Walk and Run for the Future is this Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Barber Park in Greensboro. The race begins at 9 a.m.
