Greensboro city council member Jamal Fox has announced his resignation.
Fox made the announcement in an email Tuesday afternoon:
“It has been an honor and privilege to serve the citizens of Greensboro and particularly the citizens of District 2 in Northeast Greensboro. It is with great sadness, to share that I will not be running for re-election this fall.
Over the last four years, I have given our community my all, pouring my heart and soul into every project and policy I led or assisted with. We have come a long way together from when I first took office in 2013 and I am extremely proud of where we are going.

To my District 2 residents, I thank you for the opportunity to serve you. From day one, you believed in my abilities, which gave me the energy and strength needed to be your voice. As I move forward, I am proud to have called Greensboro my home. My success as your City Council Member is our success and I stand humbled by what we have accomplished together.
Together, we will continue to make a difference in District 2 and in the greater community. Thank you, Greensboro.”
The Greensboro city council will appoint Fox's replacement during the July 18 meeting.
