Greensboro, N.C.-- The North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP) says they have made an arrest in a hit-and-run that severely injured a man in Greensboro on Halloween night.

Troopers put out an alert Wednesday with a description of the car. Thursday they say the driver turned herself in and was charged. Trooper Brandon Baker says the accident happened around 9:45 pm, Tuesday while the person was walking in the roadway on Gate City Blvd near Mackay Rd.

That's when an unknown driver hit Ricky Denny and drove off. Denny was taken to Cone Hospital with severe injuries, Baker said.

Thursday, 25-year-old Ashli Baker told investigators she thought she hit a deer and kept driving after the collision.

Baker is charged with:

  • Felony Hit and Run
  • Driving While License Revoked
  • Running a Red Light

She was given a $8,000 secured bond and has since posted the bond, troopers confirm.

Trooper Baker said they were able to arrest Ashli Baker after getting video from a gas station on Gate City Blvd.
