#GivingTuesday is a global day to encourage end-of-year giving to those in need. It’s a chance for local organizations, charities and businesses to donate time and resources or simply volunteer for a cause.
Jean Pudlow, Associate Director for local non-profit, Reading Connections, says it really does all go back to the community we live in.
"“On Giving Tuesday we know that people have done their preliminary Christmas shopping and starting to think about other people and we really appreciate that, and we really appreciate people thinking local,” Pudlow said. “The people we serve are the people you pass in the grocery store and whose children in our schools.”
Many local organizations in the Triad are participating in #GivingTuesday. Here’s a list of a few you can donate to:
American Red Cross
The Arc of High Point
Children’s Home of North Carolina
Financial Pathways of the Piedmont
Greensboro Children’s Museum
Greensboro Urban Ministry
Guilford County Schools
Donate a new or gently used instrument to support Guilford County Schools music programs.
Donations will be accepted on Giving Tuesday at three locations:
• Moore Music, 615 W. Market Street, Greensboro (9 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
• Centennial Station, 121 S. Centennial Street, High Point (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
• Page High, 201 Alma Pinnix Drive, Greensboro, site of the All-County Band Clinic (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
If you don’t have an instrument to donate but want to help, you can make a financial donation to offset the cost of repairs and maintenance. Go to www.k12paymentcenter and search for Guilford County Schools. Tax-deductible donations will be accepted through Dec. 31.
