Making the Call To Make-Up A Snow Day

Officials at Guilford County Schools say they have used up all but three snow make-up days.

Another round of snow, Monday, led to more school closures and delays Tuesday. Guilford County Schools was the biggest Triad district to close.

The snow progressively melted away throughout the day but concerns about black ice in the early hours of the morning proved too much of a risk for bus drivers in the district to venture out on their routes

Some school buses sat parked in a lot at Page High School while parents scrambled to make alternative childcare plans. Many opted to work from home or just take the day off. Parents now want to know whether their kids would have to make up for the classroom time lost and if so when.

Some parents are worried they would have to change plans already made for spring break or the beginning of long summer break.

Officials at Guilford County Schools say they have used up all but three snow make-up days. They met Tuesday to discuss a plan moving forward. However, they are yet to make a no final decision on when students would make up the pair of canceled school days.

Winston-Salem Forsyth County schools were only off during the snow event on Monday and the district operated on a two-hour delay, Tuesday.

Just like their counterpart in Guilford County, Winston-Salem Forsyth County schools still have three available make-up days to work within the event of any interruption to the normal school schedule.
