Man Dies After Getting Caught in Rip Current at Outer Banks Beach

The Outer Banks media outlet 'OBX Today' tweeted that there was a high risk of rip currents at all beaches Sunday.

SOUTHERN SHORES, N.C. — A 68-year-old man died after he was pulled from the surf in the Outer Banks.

John Albright of Blacksburg, Virginia died on Saturday according to a WAVY report.

Southern Shores Police say emergency crews were called out to the beach between 1st Avenue and 2nd Avenue for Albright, who was unresponsive.

Witnesses told police Albright and his wife appeared to have gotten caught in a rip current.

The Outer Banks media outlet 'OBX Today' tweeted that there was a high risk of rip currents at all beaches Sunday. Beachgoers were advised to stay out of the ocean.
