A man survived being hit by a tractor trailer and has non-life threatening injuries after a scary incident Thursday afternoon on Interstate 40 in Greensboro.

Two lanes of I-40 westbound near exit 217 were briefly closed after Austin Halcomb tried to cross the interstate and was hit. Police don't know why Halcomb was crossing the road and it's unknown if he was impaired. He's being treated at a nearby hospital.

Halcomb was hit near the Gate City Blvd. exit while walking into the roadway around 2:11 p.m. according to Greensboro police. The driver of the tractor trailer is not facing charges.
