GREENSBORO, NC – Traveling around PTI Airport will be a lot easier starting next month.
Governor Roy Cooper along with state and local leaders cut the ribbon on a new portion of I-73 on Friday.
The taxiway bridge is a 9.4 mile stretch of highway designed to improve traffic flow around the airport.
Cooper says it will also spur economic development and create jobs by providing more opportunity to recruit new industries to the area.
"This project announcement today goes a long way to putting more money in people's pockets,” said Cooper. “Not only here in the Triad but in surrounding counties and the entire state of North Carolina."
NCDOT says the taxiway bridge will open in July.
The interstate will help connect drivers from Rockingham County and other areas - north to Greensboro and PTIA.
