Parents and students at Southern Alamance High School reached out to WFMY News 2 on Facebook complaining of a leak in the roof in the band classroom at the school.

In pictures posted to Facebook Monday, puddles of water can be seen on the floor of the room with tiles removed from the ceiling.

Alamance-Burlington Schools Public Information Officer Jenny Faulkner responded to our questions about the room, citing the weekend's snowfall as the reason for the leak.

Faulkner said:

Apparently snow caused the roof portion over the band room at Southern Alamance High to experience a leak over the weekend as a result of snow on the roof, for an extended period of time due to the storm on Friday. As soon as the school was aware of the issue this morning since the school was closed for all activities over the weekend, they relocated the band classes today. They will make temporary arrangements for the classes until the roof can be temporarily repaired in advance for scheduled major renovations already planned to occur during the summer. Snow and ice can create a lot of issues for flat roofs. A portion of the roof had been patched just recently, but heavy snow created a new leak over the weekend.
