WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Social media played a role in helping to save the lives of two dogs locked in a home in Winston-Salem.

Police said they received several posts on social media that the dogs could be in danger. WFMY News 2 also got calls into your newsroom about the dogs. That’s after the owner had been arrested and was in jail. The Forsyth County Animal Control also investigated the case. A representative of the landlord was able to get into the apartment with a locksmith to remove the two dogs from the home.

Both dogs appeared to be in good physical condition at the time of their rescue.
