A line of severe storms moved into the Triad from the west Tuesday afternoon and brought torrential rain, lightning and gusty winds.
Multiple counties were placed under a severe thunderstorm warning as storm cells moved in from the northwest. Severe Thunderstorm warnings were in effect for Guilford and Randolph Counties until 6:30 p.m. A severe Thunderstorm warning is in effect for Surry County until 7:15 p.m.

Around 6:30, Guilford County had 1,189 reported power outages on the Duke Energy outage map. Forsyth County had 709.
The weather caused the Greensboro Grasshoppers to cancel their home game scheduled for Tuesday night.
